“Don’t judge. Teach. It’s a learning process.”
― Carol Dweck, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
Backed by decades of experience producing exceptional clinical outcomes, Kintinu Telerehab connects recovery to everyday life. We gladly joined Kyle Walker from Homelink, an industry leader and national provider of ancillary healthcare services, to explore hot topics in rehabilitation, personal growth and recovery, and how to apply it all to the real-world.
In this episode of ‘Rehabilitation Today,’ Kyle hosts Steve Kerschke and Brad Dexter as they dive into the topic of skill development and apply it to interdisciplinary rehabilitation, leadership, youth athletics, and parenting. Offering real-life experiences, they discuss the mindset and keys to learning and introduce several key mantras that serve as a checklist for skill acquisition.
While no mantra is more important than another, ‘Motivating with Meaning’ and ‘Identifying Interferences’ are two foundational mantras that impact one’s success. Listeners will learn the importance of understanding the driving force(s) behind engagement and the value of paying special attention to physical, emotional, and psychosocial barriers. These concepts are powerful when paired with training programs designed to closely mimic the skills needed for successful completion of any activity.
Steve and Brad also provide an overview of Kintinu Telerehab’s approach to rehabilitation and recovery. With this, the future of virtual care remains uncertain, and they caution consumers against returning to pre-pandemic practices simply due to familiarity with long-established therapy methods. As such, continuing to make telerehabilitation play second fiddle to in-person services may be short-sighted and, in some cases, may deprive clients of optimal services.
Enjoy!
